Trap Hills roadside waterfall with a swing bridge and no crowds
About Agate Falls
Agate Falls drops about 40 feet on the Middle Branch of the Ontonagon River, accessible via a short trail (under half a mile) from a roadside pull-off on M-28 near Trout Creek. A swinging footbridge gives you a view from directly above the falls — the kind of access that would cost ten dollars and a parking reservation anywhere else. It's free and rarely busy. The Trap Hills immediately north offer some of the most rugged and isolated hiking in the western UP. This is a 45-minute stop or a half-day if you explore the river corridor.
